Under 15 Volunteer Opportunities

At Open Door, we offer a variety of engaging opportunities for students and children to get involved. Below are some ways you can participate.  If you have your own innovative idea for a drive, we encourage you to reach out to us! We're always eager to hear new suggestions to enhance our community efforts.

Local Food Drive

Join us in making a difference! We encourage everyone to host their own drives to gather much-needed supplies for our local food pantry. It's simple, and a great way to bring the community together.  Let's work hand-in-hand to fight hunger and support those in need!   Food Drives, can collect the items from the Most Needed Items or any non-perishable food items you would like to collect.

Recipe Ready Food Drive

With a Recipe Ready Drive, you can choose a recipe from this cookbook.  Collect the ingredients needed to make the selected recipe.  Please provide at least 10 bags of food, each with everything needed to make the recipe.   Print out and staple the recipe in English and Spanish to the outside of each bag.

Change for Change

Change for change can be a big or small event.

Round up your loose change however you can imagine.  Here are a few ideas:

  • Dig in the sofa cushions

  • Dust off your piggy bank

  • Ask family members for their spare change

  • Hold a coin drive

Place all the coins in wrappers and bring to them to the Open Door Food Pantry.

Specialty Drive

Similar to a Recipe Ready Drive, a young volunteer chooses a theme from our Special Pantry Drives list, then collects all of the items.  The goal is to provide at least 10 bags with all of the items.
