Students are encouraged to make a commitment to Open Door, and continue volunteering after completing the needed service hours.

Pantry volunteers start at age 14.  Other opportunities are available for younger students.

Students keep track of their own hours.  A form letter is provided to verify hours.

Reference letters are only provided for students who complete 15+ hours over five or more shifts.  One week's notice required to provide a reference letter.

Donations do not count towards service hours unless the student prepares a plan, contacts Open Door in advance, and receives written approval from Open Door.  A maximum of two hours is allowed for a standard drive.
